A Black employee has settled her racial discrimination lawsuit against Tesla, where she claimed a manager at its California plant greeted workers by saying, "Welcome to the plantation/slave house."

According to CNN, Elon Musk's Tesla and Raina Pierce, a Black employee who installed latches on car doors, agreed to a settlement proposed by a mediator for an undisclosed amount.

Pierce previously claimed that she faced pervasive harassment at Tesla's Fremont, California plant. According to Pierce, racial slurs were scrawled on the walls throughout the plant, including in bathrooms. Pierce also stated that she was yelled at and disciplined for conduct that non-Black workers weren't.

According to her complaint, a Tesla employee who joined Pierce's production line said, “Ma’am, you need to go to HR because these leads are saying things about you that are not right.” Pierce had also alleged that a manager would sometimes greet workers by saying, "Welcome to the slave house."

Tesla has previously faced accusations of racial discrimination and harassment at its Fremont plant.

In March 2024, elevator operator Owen Diaz settled with the automaker for undisclosed terms following a $3.2 million jury verdict.
